Weber employees raise £1,044 for Macmillan Cancer Support

21 03 2014

Together Weber is working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support to help ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Over the next two years we're aiming to raise enough money to fund five Macmillan nurses.

Macmillan nurses are a lifeline for people affected by cancer. They are a valued and trusted source of expert information, providing practical advice and emotional support for those affected by cancer, and their families, when they need it most.

Weber employees in Flitwick, Telford and Ballyclare are celebrating after they successfully swapped their uniforms for collection tins, raising a fantastic £1,044 for their new charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support. Weber was tasked with raising just £27 during the week, enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for one hour, but the team smashed their target, raising a fantastic £1,044 , which is enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for 38 hours.

Employees from Weber participated in a series of fun fundraisers ranging from 'guess how many sweets in the jar' to the not so enjoyable 'leg waxing'!

Lucy Groen, Partnership Account Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support says, "I'd like to thank all the employees at Weber for taking the time to support Macmillan this celebration week. The Macmillan team want to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone, and without the help of our corporate partners, we simply couldn't do this."

Emily Shelford, Partnership Management Leader at Macmillan Cancer Support says, "I'd like to thank everyone at Weber for their support of Macmillan. As one in three of us will get cancer in our lifetime, the need for our nurses has never been greater.

James Mead, Marketing Manager of Weber says, "We're delighted to be working with Macmillan over the next two years and we're delighted to kick off our partnership in style by smashing our fundraising target."

If you've been diagnosed with cancer you don't just worry about what will happen to your body, you worry about what will happen to your life, but our nurses know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything and they're there to support people through - every step of the way. They simply wouldn't be able to continue doing this without your generous support - so please support Weber!
