Technical data

Constraints

weber.cem plug 530 must not be used for concrete repairs.

Maximum thickness 50 mm.

weber.cem plug 530 should only be used as a backup to permanent repairs.

Preparation

All substrates must be dense, free of loose matter, laitance, paints, coatings, oil, grease and dust.

Any leaks should be chiselled out with square edges to a minimum depth of 25mm and a minimum width of 12 mm. The depth to width ratio should be kept at about 2:1. Concrete block joints and small cavities in blocks should be raked out where the mortar is loose and saturated with water.

Thoroughly dampen the area with clean water before applying weber.cem plug 530.

For strong or large leaks it is best to relieve the water pressure by fixing in a pipe near to the leak and dewatering through it. Build up the plugging mortar gradually in layers.

Mixing

Wear rubber or polythene gloves. Use a clean bowl and a pallet knife or flat stick.

Add 1 volume of water to 2 to 3 volumes of powder depending on ambient temperature. Mix only small quantities at a time (approx. 0.5 kg) as the mortar sets quickly.

Mix thoroughly for about 20 seconds and work into a suitable pear shape for application. Speed is essential since weber.cem plug 530 is a very rapid setting material.

In hot conditions (over 25°C) use chilled water.
In cold conditions (below 8°C) use warm water.

In freezing conditions store the product in a warm place prior to mixing. Use warm water for mixing and pre-warm that area with a blow-torch

Application

Cracks and holes
Wearing rubber or plastic gloves push the mixed weber.cem plug 530 firmly into the crack or hole and, where necessary, hold in place until initial set has taken place - usually 45 seconds or longer in cold weather. Avoid working, rubbing, trowelling etc, whilst initial set is taking place. On long cracks start at the top and work down.

Joints
Remove existing sealant, cut back around the joint to expose sound clean concrete.

Fill with weber.cem plug 530 to cut off the water but leave a minimum 12 mm square recess to be filled subsequently with a replacement joint sealant.

General
Shave off excess material as soon as initial set has taken place.

Keep weber.cem plug 530 damp for at least 30 minutes after placing. In some applications where water flow is excessive, dewater through pressure relief tubes. After plugging with weber.cem plug 530, remove tubes and finally plug-up the hole with weber.cem plug 530.

Finishing
weber.cem plug 530 is a water cut-off product. For a permanent repair we recommend an application of weber.cem dryrend 521 waterproof render or weber.cem coat 511 waterproof coating, depending on site requirements and the problem to cure. Please refer to the respective data sheets for further information.
