The Lock, Manchester

Set in the centre of Manchester, The Lock boasts 11 floors of luxury apartments on each side of a central atrium. Specifiers MBLC selected weber.therm XM, a high performance EWI system, for the outside elevation of the building and the internal atrium walls. A weber.plast TF finish in white was selected to complete the insulated render system. weber.therm XM is a lightweight system incorporating thin-coat polymer render and meshcloth reinforcement, the system will generate efficient thermal insulation for the building and eliminate interstitial condensation by creating a 'warm wall' construction. In addition to the practical considerations that weber.therm XM has to offer, the aesthetic appeal of a development is always at the forefront of the viewers mind and in this respect the specification of weber.plast TF-an acrylic based, composite, decorative render finish- graces the Lock with an attractive look which will also provide durability and resilience against all harsh and exposed weather conditions. The specification of an insulated render system for the internal walls helped to create an understated, contemporary aesthetic appeal, whilst still offering the same practical considerations as the outside system.
