WEBER JOINS NATIONAL INSULATION ASSOCIATION

More heat is lost through walls than through any other route and in an uninsulated home this could be as much as 35% of the generated heat. The UK’s housing stock is estimated at around 24.5 million dwellings of which some 36% consist of ‘hard to treat homes’ – those without cavities and built of solid brick, stone or concrete and pre 1944 timber frame. The NIA recommend that external wall insulation is an ideal method of insulating properties of this type and are eligible for an insulation grant which can typically cut the cost of installation by up to 50%.
“The Weber External Wall Insulation system (EWI) is made up of a layer of insulation fixed to the existing wall using a combination of fixings and adhesives, covered with a protective layer of render and decorative cladding,” explains Mark Weaver, Marketing Manager, Weber, “and is a proven method for improving thermal performance for both new build and refurbishment projects.” Mark Weaver continues: “Social landlords and private homeowners need to make their existing properties more efficient at keeping in warmth. Insulating on the outside of the building achieves this without compromising internal living space, as well as providing an attractive new façade to the building, an additional benefit not provided by other insulation methods. These factors are equally important in new construction.”
“We see enormous potential working with the NIA,” continues Mark. “They have tremendous experience in delivering insulation for cavities and lofts – promoting the virtues of external insulation for difficult properties represents the next major challenge. We have a network of recognised contractors able to successfully install our EWI systems and with the help of a very professional association this can be increased to meet rising demand.”
