Do not use:

  • On permanently damp floors or floors with rising damp
  • On friable or unstable floors
  • In industrial areas
  • On external floors

Preparation

Substrate

Recommended for use on concrete substrates. The surface strength of the substrate must be greater than 1.5 N/mm²

Preparation and priming

The substrate should be clean, free from dust, cement, grease or other impurities that may prevent adhesion. The substrate should be vacuum cleaned, prepared and primed twice using weber.floor 4716. The first priming should be diluted 1:5, the second 1:3 (on weber.floor 4600 industry base, 1:10, 1:3). The primer should be dry and have formed a film before laying with weber.floor 4650 design colour. The temperature of the substrate during and for 48 hours following application should exceed +10°C.

Mixing

weber.floor 4650 design colour should be applied using a mixer pump approved by Weber.

The material is mixed with 20% water, which corresponds to 5.0 litres per 25 kg bag. Whilst mixing, the water content should be checked continuously by the flow ring test (size 68 mm x 35 mm ring).

Do not use excessive water as this will reduce strength, increase shrinkage and encourage segregation and colour variation. Conversely reduced water content increases viscosity.

Also ensure that the material is correctly mixed and free from separation and lumps of powder. The temperature of the mix should ideally be between +15°C and +20°C.

Application

Light ventilation in the work area is necessary but windows and openings must be closed sufficiently to avoid draughts during and after application.

The maximum width of the pumpable area varies from 6 – 8 metres depending on the pump capacity and application thickness. Wider areas can be temporarily divided with stop ends.

Pumping is carried out in sections so that a new section is pumped as quickly as possible in order to maintain a wet edge. A wide spatula or spiked roller should be used to assist the self levelling process. Colour and appearance will be affected by the choice of finishing tool.

The material can be laid in thicknesses of 4 – 15 mm, with the normal layer thickness being 6 – 8mm. Large cavities should always be levelled using weber.floor 4600 industry base or weber.floor 4602.

Caution

Colour variations in the finished surface can occur due to a number of factors such as:

● The product is formulated from cementitious binders with mineral pigments and colour variations can result due to differing ambient conditions during application

● The method of installation can occasionally result in hose lines in the finished surface

● Any future repairs to the surface may result in variations in colour and texture.

Storage and shelf life

When stored unopened in a cool, dry place at temperatures above 5°C, shelf life is 6 months from date of manufacturer.
