weber.floor 4360 base flow rapid is an economic, rapid drying, self smoothing floor screed. Solid substrates, unbonded or floating.

About this product

weber.floor 4360 base flow rapid is a pumpable, self drying, levelling screed having a rougher surface structure than ordinary levelling compounds. Before floor covering, the surface must be primed and covered with a low alkali fine smoothing compound or a levelling compound. The material is supplied as a dry powder consisting of high alumina cement, natural sand, complementary binder and additives. The product is free from slag and casein.

Field of application

weber.floor 4360 is recommended for application where there is a need for thick layers of 20 - 80 mm and simultaneously reducing the drying time.

Working instructions

Light ventilation in the work area is necessary but windows and openings must be closed sufficiently to avoid draughts during and after application. Indoor and floor temperature must exceed +10C during and after application and one week after that. The relative humidity of the ambient air must not exceed 70% to allow efficient drying of the primer. Insufficient drying time or poor film formation due to low temperature and/or high humidity may result in pinholes in the levelling layer.

Substrate

The substrate should be clean, free from grease, weak surface layers and dust. weber.floor 4360 is designed primarily for use on concrete substrates and stone/ceramics, etc. The substrate should have a surface tensile strength of at least 1N/mm2 (pull off strength)

Technical data

Preparation and priming

The substrate should be mechanically prepared to remove dust, grease and other impurities that might prevent adhesion. Holes and leaks in the substrate should be sealed. Floor drains etc. should be protected with lids and separated with stop ends. The surface is vacuumed cleaned and primed with weber.floor 4716 primer according to the instructions on the data sheet. After application and whilst the primer is still fresh, it should be lightly brushed to ensure a complete uniformed film has been applied. The function of the primer is to improve adhesion to the substrate, to prevent air bubbles and to prevent  de-watering of the floor compound before hardening.

Mixing

weber.floor 4360 should be applied using a suitable mixer pump approved by Weber. The material is mixed with 16% water, which corresponds to 4 litres per 25Kg bag. Do not use excessive water. While mixing, the water content should be checked continuously by the flow ring test (size 50mmx22mm ring). Also ensure that the material is correctly mixed and free from separation. It is important to add the stipulated amount of water as excess water will reduce strength, increase shrinkage and encourage segregation. Conversely reduced water content increases viscosity. The temperature of the mix should ideally be between +15C and + 20C.

Application

The maximum width of the pumpable area varies from 6-8 metres depending on the pump capacity and application thickness. Wider areas can be temporarily divided with stop-ends. Pumping is carried out in sections so that the new section is pumped as quickly as possible in order to maintain a wet edge. A wide spatula or spiked roller should be used to assist the self levelling process.

After-treatment

weber.floor 4360 should be covered with a suitable fine smoothing compound or levelling compound before covering with flooring (PVC, linoleum). Parquet and ceramic tiles can be applied directly on to it.

Practical advice

weber.floor 4360 is self drying, which means that an early strength is obtained and that a high proportion of the mixing water is chemically bound in the screed. This makes it possible for an early covering with Weber's other material as well as other floor coverings provided the moisture in the concrete slab below does not exceed the moisture limits for floor coverings.

Drying time

The screed will receive foot traffic after a drying time of 2-3 hours at an ambient temperature of +20C; ceramic, terrazzo or clinker tiles after 24 hours, Parquet after 7 days and a top layer of screed after 3 days.

Environmental advice

  • Low alkalinity
  • Low emissions
  • Casein free
  • Low natural emissions

Recyclable raw materials

Storage and Shelf life

Storage time in dry conditions and closed packages is 6 months. For deliveries in bulk the store time is 3 months; longer times may have an impact on the levelling properties.

Health and Safety

Hazardous – contains cement, which is alkaline when wet and can cause skin irritation. Use eye protection, gloves and barrier cream and avoid prolonged skin contact. Avoid inhalation of dust.Wash skin contamination away with warm, soapy water. Remove splashes to the eyes by prolonged irrigation and consult a doctor. Do not ingest. Refer to Health and Safety Data Sheet.
