Unique one coat External Wall Insulation system

  • Extends the life of existing buildings by keeping the old structure warm and stable
  • Facilitates the decoration and remodelling of existing, tired facades
  • Simplifies wall construction within the new build sector

About This System

Versatility, speed and simplicity are the characteristics of weber.therm XP, an external wall insulation system unique to Weber.

Unlike traditional multi-coat systems, Weber’s expertise in mineral renders has resulted in a breakthrough concept—a one-coat, through-coloured mineral render which can be applied directly to all major insulation types.

Fixing of the insulation boards is the same as for traditional systems but this is where the similarities end. From this point on, weber.therm XP comes into its own.

Because it is a one-coat system, no waiting for a base coat to dry is necessary and the material can be applied by machine pump, making the application the most economical within the industry.

Fibre mesh reinforcement is applied between wet passes and the material is finished to a scrape texture the following day. If a spray or dry dash finish is required, this second day process is not required.

Labour and scaffold costs are significantly reduced by using weber.therm XP and the disruption to the homeowner is minimised. The resulting finish is maintenance-free and available in a wide range of colours and textures.

System Accreditation

Following extensive assessment by the British Board of Agrément (BBA), Weber can announce that BBA certification for the weber.therm XP External Wall Insulation (EWI) system has been achieved. This qualification represents a landmark in the industry as the assessment covers all major insulation types – polystyrene, mineral fibre and phenolic – for the weber.therm M1 render, mesh-reinforced system. The certification covers both new build projects, using various types of construction methods, as well as for the refurbishment of existing buildings.  This is applicable to low rise, traditional or non-traditional construction, or high rise multi-occupancy buildings.

The energy saving initiatives funded by the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) and the Community Energy Saving Programme (CESP) aimed at the solid wall hard-to-treat housing stock means the use of EWI is predicted to grow significantly.

The BBA has developed a robust process for assessing manufacturers systems and Weber’s unique one-coat technology in the weber.therm XP system is the first to pass these rigorous assessments, the results of which set a benchmark standard for the industry.

Impact resistance is important for low rise solutions and here the weber.therm XP system provides high levels of weather protection combined with high impact resistance. When tested during the BBA certification assessment, the system met the requirement for use in Category 1 – which quite simply underlines the materials’ capacity to withstand hard body impacts.

The system also has no restriction in its use in areas of high or severe exposure.  weber.therm XP can be designed to resist wind loads and rainfall at all levels of exposure from Sheltered to Very Severe locations.

Features and Benefits
