About this System
Versatility, speed and simplicity are the characteristics of webertherm XP, an external wall insulation system unique to Weber.
Unlike traditional multi-coat systems, Weber’s expertise in mineral renders has resulted in a breakthrough concept—a one-coat, through-coloured mineral render which can be applied directly to all major insulation types.
Fixing of the insulation boards is the same as for traditional systems but this is where the similarities end. From this point on, webertherm XP comes into its own.
Because it is a one-coat system, no waiting for a base coat to dry is necessary and the material can be applied by machine pump, making the application the most economical within the industry.
Fibre mesh reinforcement is applied between wet passes and the material is finished to a scrape texture the following day. If a spray or dry dash finish is required, this second day process is not required.
Labour and scaffold costs are significantly reduced by using webertherm XP and the disruption to the homeowner is minimised. The resulting finish is maintenance-free and available in a wide range of colours and textures.
Features and Benefits
- Increasing energy efficiency leading to economic benefits
- One coat application, significantly reducing the 'programme of works' and all associated costs
- Through-colour, thick mineral render for low maintenance and durability
- Provides efficient thermal insulation for refurbishment and new build projects
- Particularly suited to high rise applications and for areas where high impact resistance is required
- Eliminates interstitial condensation by creating a 'warm wall' construction
- High strength mechanical fixings allow application to existing 'suspect' or friable surfaces
- Quality assured raw materials
- Supported by comprehensive technical and architectural services
Colours & Finishes
Following extensive assessment by the British Board of Agrément (BBA), Weber can announce that BBA certification for the webertherm XP External Wall Insulation (EWI) system has been achieved. This qualification represents a landmark in the industry as the assessment covers all major insulation types for the webertherm M1 render, mesh-reinforced system. The certification covers both new build projects, using various types of construction methods, as well as for the refurbishment of existing buildings. This is applicable to low rise, traditional or non-traditional construction, or high rise multi-occupancy buildings.
The BBA has developed a robust process for assessing manufacturers systems and Weber's unique one-coat technology in the webertherm XP system is the first to pass these rigorous assessments, the results of which set a benchmark standard for the industry.
Impact resistance is important for low rise solutions and here the webertherm XP system provides high levels of weather protection combined with high impact resistance. When tested during the BBA certification assessment, the system met the requirement for use in Category 1 - which quite simply underlines the materials' capacity to withstand hard body impacts.
The system also has no restriction in its use in areas of high or severe exposure. webertherm XP can be designed to resist wind loads and rainfall at all levels of exposure from Sheltered to Very Severe locations.
The introduction of the Government's "Green Deal" financial mechanism eliminates the need to pay up front for energy efficiency measures installed on homes or businesses. Instead, the cost of the measures will be recovered through instalments made on energy bills over several years. Green Deal measures must meet the 'Golden Rule', in other words the savings on energy bills should be greater than the instalments paid through the energy bill.
External Wall Insulation may not meet the 'Golden Rule' but significant ECO (Energy Company Obligation) funding is available to reduce the size of the Green Deal 'loan' ensuring it meets the Golden Rule criteria. The Green Deal and ECO are underpinned by comprehensive accreditation of the energy saving measures, the installing companies and the energy assessors of the property. Weber EWI systems already meet the proposed Green Deal requirements with training aligned to the Green Deal framework available to ensure that our installers can be 'Green Deal Ready' for the start of the scheme.
During the planning stages of a project, advice should be sought from Weber technical staff.
Advice based on technical expertise together with unrivalled practical experience is freely available and covers:
Design: assistance with the selection of the appropriate system, including working details and U-value calculations.
Pre-Contract Documentation: specifications, typical details, method statements.
Contract Documentation: site packages, available through the specialist contractor. These include approved details, specification and site procedures. Weber Customer Services Department has a team of experienced advisors available to provide on-site advice both at the specification stage and during application. Detailed specifications can be provided for specific projects or more general works. Site visits and on-site demonstrations can be arranged on request.
