About this product
weber.tec putty is a polyester resin based rapid setting mastic. Speed of set coupled with high initial grab make this an exceptional material for a wide range of bonding and sealing jobs for vertical or overhead fixing. It is available in Rapid Grade for cold weather working, Standard Grade for normal temperatures and Tropical Grade for temperatures above 25°C and below 40°C. It is also used to seal the ends of pipeline jointing shells prior to grouting of the annular gap. Can be applied at 1 mm to 10 mm thickness.
Uses
- Sealing of pipe ends
- Bonding masonry sections back into place
- Fixing plaques to concrete and brickwork
- Jointing of brick and concrete sections
- Jointing of precast concrete pipes
- Bonding dry concrete to dry concrete
- Repairs to mosaics
- Repairs to stone statues and stonework
- Bonding steel sections to concrete as secondary fixing mechanisms
Features and benefits
- Rapid setting, allowing fast installation
- High initial bond, providing excellent adhesion
- Rapid grade permits work at low temperatures during winter working
- Part mixing by volume allows economical use of material – minimal wastage
- Impervious to water, allowing use in exposed weather conditions
- Excellent bond to clean abraded steel

Preparation
All surfaces must be mechanically sound, dry and clean, i.e. free from dirt, dust, paint, grease, or any other contamination or coating. Laitance must also be removed from concrete.
Steel surfaces should be abraded to remove all traces of rust.
Mixing
Wear gloves when mixing weber.tec putty. Mix in the following proportions: 1 cup Resin to 3 cups Powder Hardener. Pour the Resin into the bucket. Gradually stir in the Powder Hardener and thoroughly mix until a smooth consistency and a uniform colour are achieved.
Do not mix or place more than 3 cups of Resin at a time. Mix in a clean, dry plastic or rubber bucket, using a suitable stirrer such as a spatula or flat piece of timber.
Ensure the bag of hardener is re-sealed tightly after each use.
Cleaning
Clean all tools and equipment with weber.tec solvent3 before the material sets.
Packaging and yield
weber.tec putty is available in a 14·3 kg pack which yields a volume of 8 litres. It contains 1 can of Resin, 1 bag of Powder Hardener and 2 measuring cups allowing for part volume mixing into about 14 splits.
Storage and shelf life
Shelf life in correct storage is at least 12 months when stored in cool dry conditions out of direct sunlight.
Application
weber.tec putty must be used immediately after mixing.
Three grades of material are available, weber.tec putty, weber.tec putty rapid, and weber.tec putty tropical applicable for use according to temperature conditions set out overleaf.
To achieve economy do not mix more material than can realistically be applied within the time scale.
Apply firmly in contact with both surfaces to be bonded, building up the thickness and levelling off as the work proceeds. Bring together firmly. Support will be needed for heavy units after jointing until the putty has set hard.
When sealing the ends of pipeline sleeves, apply the putty liberally into the gap to ensure a good seal then finish off at 30° (see Figure 2).
Precautions
weber.tec products will not adhere to some plastics, rubber, glass or glazed surfaces; use weber.tec EP range or contact our Technical Department.
weber.tec putty rapid: do not use above 17°C
weber.tec putty: do not use below 7°C
weber.tec putty tropical: do not use below 20°C
